Experience the premium, tailored care a Good Heavens Private Stargazing Experience offers. We bring blankets, moon chairs, hot chocolate and freshly baked treats, along with experienced local guides who love sharing stellar stories and facts — with plenty of time for your questions. Our guides own the business and are happy to delve into your particular interests, so you receive the most personalised experience possible.

Stargazing tools
An 8" Newtonian Dobsonian telescope and binoculars help you get up close to the dazzling details of our galaxy. Please let us know where you're staying so we can determine the best spot for a clear view of the sky, and let us know if you have little ones who'll be asleep.

Celestial objects
We'll look at stars, constellations, planets and some deep-sky objects, and will do our best to fulfil any special requests if the object is in the evening sky.
Please note that when the moon takes centre stage, the Milky Way recedes from view — check the calendar for our Moon Walk Experience for weeks when the moon is large in the evening sky.

We welcome questions and conversation about the universe and beyond, and will email you details of your experience the day after your tour.

Top tips:

• A Good Heavens Private Stargazing Experience lasts approx. 2 hours.
• An overnight stay on Aotea Great Barrier Island is required to come stargazing with us.
• We recommend staying at least two nights, to double your chances of a clear sky and to enjoy more of what our beautiful island has to offer in the daytime, too.
• Good Heavens offers stargazing packages which include at least 3 nights premium accommodation, return flights, a 4WD rental car for the duration of your stay, and your stargazing experience. Check our Package page for more info.

• Your guide can come on board with binoculars, their knowledge and a laser pen — telescopes don't work on board.
• In calm weather, it's possible to tender to your stargazing experience at Medlands Beach.
• To include the telescope, we're often able to use a land based location at Port Fitzroy — check availability with us.
• We're based in the south of Aotea; a travel charge applies for experiences north of Awana.
